Our Carbon Hero Award recognises local businesses in and around the North West taking real steps to reduce their carbon footprint.
Carbon SUPERHERO Award
Carbon Saving Best Practice:
- Installation of a large solar panel power plant on the factory roof to significantly reducing the energy costs of the business, a huge cost saving on monthly bills.
- Comprehensive approach to recycling with a zero waste & zero landfill goal.
- Sourcing policy from recycled product suppliers where possible.

We believe the Cactus Energy Solar (PV) installation project for PING Europe’s headquarters in Gainsborough, UK, is an exemplary model of successful solar renewable energy deployment. The project exemplifies innovative design, technical expertise, and seamless project management from inception to completion. These merits make it a worthy candidate for recognition and commendation.
Unlike conventional solar installations, this project highlight design innovation. Cactus Energy proposed design incorporates the company’s iconic “PING” logo into the the solar array, transforming the panels from functional tools to a striking visual declaration. In addition to energy generation; it’s a beacon of environmental responsibility, a testament to PING’s forward-thinking spirit, and a unique landmark that inspires and educates the community.

Carbon SUPERHERO Award
Carbon Saving Best Practice:
Providing everyone with the opportunity to become more sustainable by planting trees, receiving weekly sustainability tips with discounts to products and a whole host of marketing content and opportunities. Many companies now have a Climate Positive Workforce which means 13 trees a month are planted per employee (more than offsetting their carbon footprint), the company is actively encouraging their staff to lower their carbon footprint through our weekly tips and 10% of everything given goes to a good cause of your choice.

The award is given to people and businesses that help Manchester lower its Carbon Footprint!
Play It Green was designed to help people and businesses balance their Carbon Footprint through reforestation, sustainability tips, products and savings. For every pound we make, 10% is given to good causes chosen by our members.
We also have fantastic initiatives for pro-Sports Clubs and schools!
